Le Galinier

In Lourmarin there are 2 hotels I would like to recommend: Le Moulin and Le Galinier, which are both part of the Baumier Group.

Le Moulin is located in the heart of Lourmarin, in a former oil mill dating from the 18th century. Nestled within the Luberon, Le Moulin de Lourmarin is a boutique, charming hotel with a rich character that tells the story of an authentic and traditional Provence. Located a few steps from the castle of Lourmarin, the hotel welcomes its guests to an enchanting setting, surrounded by lime trees. The small but refreshing pool helps the gest get through hot summer days. Its location right in the center makes it a venue for hotel guests, locals and other visitors, who meet on the big shaded patio and enjoy the cocktail du jour with some tasteful olives on the table.

If you prefer a less vivid but more serene hotel, Le Galinier should be your choice. In the former Provençal beastide you will find the forgotten Provence, the crafts, the cuisine, the literature and the art that make the region so rich. Nestled in its 3 hectare estate, the grounds invite guests to enjoy a total change of scenery. The garden is an oasis of flowers and hundred-year-old trees, alongside a swimming pool and water features to offer a haven of peace with the scent of Provence. Offering several spaces that combine intimacy, conviviality and comfort, this guest house boasts a Provençal decor, from which emerges an atmosphere so personal that it gives the impression of being at home, or at least at the home of friends. The splendid kitchen is run by a Provençal collective with chefs changing every few months and is also open to those who are not staying at Le Galinier

Nature enthusiasts will also find plenty to explore in and around Lourmarin. The Luberon Regional Nature Park, a protected area encompassing picturesque landscapes and diverse flora and fauna, beckons hikers and nature lovers. The park offers a network of well-marked trails that lead to breathtaking viewpoints, hidden waterfalls and ancient ruins, allowing visitors to connect with nature in its purest form. The nearby Durance River provides opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and picnicking along its serene banks.

The neighboring villages of Bonnieux, Gordes and Roussillon, with their striking hilltop views and colorful landscapes, are easily accessible and offer a glimpse into the quintessential Provençal way of life. The lavender fields of Valensole, a short drive away, transform the landscape into a sea of vibrant purple during the summer months, creating a sight that is truly mesmerizing.

Throughout the year, Lourmarin hosts a variety of cultural events and festivals that add a touch of vibrancy to the village.
